Community Guidelines are Instagram’s public rules for content, behavior, and account use. They cover:
- Nudity, sexual content, and explicit material.
- Hate speech, violence, threats.
- Self-harm and dangerous behavior.
- Intellectual property and impersonation.
- Spam, deception, and inauthentic activity.
- Regulated goods and services.
Why they matter for recovery
Most Instagram disables cite Community Guidelines. The exact policy cited determines:
- Appealability — most violations are appealable; severe categories (e.g. CSAM) are not.
- Appeal path — the in-app “Request a Review” option is for community-guidelines disables.
- Documentation — what you need to prove for reversal.
